     Customer service has always been very important to Ivan Dorhout of Town and Country Implement in Rock Valley, Iowa. Now after owning the implement dealership for 25 years, his philosophy hasn't changed. Customer service is not only important, its's a priority.

     "The one thing I try to enthrone to my employees is to treat people the way you want to be treated. I think that promotes the return of customers," Dorhout said. Dorhout, and wife, Nancy purchased the New Holland and White farm equipment business in 1979. Through the years, White Equipment evolved into AGCO. In 1990, the Case IH line was added and then New Holland and Case IH merged. Today, Town and Country Implement's main lines are Case IH and New Holland new equipment with a variety of short lines including the AGCO planter, Grasshopper and Demco items, to name just a few.

     A portion of the success of Town and Country Implement can be attributed to it's ideal location in a northwest Iowa city of 2,900 persons with a good industry base amongst unique livestock operations. The business is also located in Sioux County five miles from Lyon County and close to the South Dakota-Nebraska borders.
    
     Employees of Town and Country Implement also play an important role in the business success.

     "We have some really good people employed here. A few key employees have been with us for many years. The support that some key employees give to the business as well as my wife, that is critical," said Dorhout, who employs 22
full- and 10 part-time people in the business.

     "Our trade area has continued to expand. The circle gets bigger. We've grown and our service area has grown also," Dorhout added..."Work isn't work if you love what you are doing."
